lolek_bookThis month, we are thrilled to offer our readers the opportunity to win one of two copies of the amazing children’s book Lolek – The Boy Who Became Pope John Paul II by Mary Hramiec Hoffman and Mark Hoffman. Just in time for Christmas, this book will become a family favorite in your home!  The story is compelling (and true!) and the book’s illustrations and overall presentation make it a true treasure.

The following is a brief description of this fantastic book:

Lolek is a celebration of the childhood of Pope John Paul II. He was a little boy who, despite tragedy and oppression in his young life during World War II, was a shining example for his peers and adults alike. Pope John Paul II was a world class freedom fighter, campaigning for world peace as a human rights advocate and defender of the oppressed. During his combat against world poverty, he taught that every life is precious no matter one’s nationality or religious belief, whether one is rich or poor, young or old. One of Lolek’s greatest achievements was the downfall of Communism in Europe. He encouraged people to feel their own power, and the power of faith led to the freedom of half a continent.

To enter to win this contest, you must leave a comment on this post with a valid email address (which won’t be published or shared) before Midnight PST on December 15, 2009.  I’ll draw two random winners and announce the winners when the contest has ended.

I won! I received the book the other day. Thank you so much for the book. It is absolutely wonderful. The illustrations are beautiful and it gives a very informative and educational depiction of Pope John II's life from his birth through his papacy. I will be ordering more for gifts for my godson and good friends kids, and I have recommended it to my mother in law who is planning to order copies as well.

I can still remember my dad's face when he first said, "We have a Polish Pope!" He had so much pride in his eyes. This, and because of the man and pope he was, is the cause of my love for John Paul II. Now I have the opportunity to share not only my faith, but a part of my father with my son. We would love to read this book together and talk about two of the best men I know who now walk with Jesus.

  • My teen daughter and I teach Catechism and would love to win this so we can share it with our class. It will reach many students this way. We teach a 5th & 6th grade, First Holy Communion class. I would purchase it however, I lost my primary job and our secondary job is slow to grow. We make rosary bracelets and sell them at Catholic craft fairs and at our website: www.ozybracelets.com ‘ŌZY‘, a child’s pronunciation of the ‘rosary’ (…for we are all children of God. - Romans 8:16). Business is so slow and we continue to learn new ways to market. We have a dream for them to be the Catholic bracelet of choice because by sitting on the wrist, it reminds us to pray a daily rosary and it fulfills the request our Blessed Mother made to St. Catherine Labouré to wear the Miraculous Mary Medal. Thank you and God bless.
  • Please enter me in the drawing - and then pick me!
