That was beautiful and makes me even more proud of our own rare flower. I would like to point out, however, that there are many women like myself who find themselves with prenatal indicators of Ds, but refuse the amnio test which would give a definitive diagnosis. We simply knew that he was welcome in our family regardless of the number of chromosomes he possessed. There are also women with the same mindset who forego testing of any kind. Thank you! Thank you. We have a friend who is on a waiting list to adopt a Down's Syndrome baby.... sadly it is a long waiting list. Until Sarah Palin made national news last year, I did not realize how high the percentage of chidren are killed for having or being suspected of having Down's Syndrome. What a beautiful column.
